France has 44,535 active military reservists and approximately 30,000 Gendarmerie reservists, with 60,000 former military members also available for five years post-service, totaling approximately 140,000 people who can be engaged in addition to 200,000 active military personnel. The government aims to double the number of reservists to 105,000 by 2035. Reservists include volunteers (RO) supporting active military.
